Students strut, model for mag

I was really impressed with the talent and attitude these girls possessed. Everything modeled was either handmade or came straight from their own closets.

A few photos from my summer internship

My photography professor, John Beale, suggested to me that I might want to make a blog for my photography. What a perfect way to show the events I cover on a weekly basis and how rather than only exhibiting my portfolio (since another one of my passion's is writing). So that's exactly what I'm going to do and I'm going to try to update as often as I can in between everything going on in my hectic life right now (classes, the Collegian, the sorority, job searching..)

This past summer I had an internship at Two. One. Five. Magazine located in Center City City Philadelphia. I covered many sub culture events in Philly from art exhibits to flea markets to low key dramas performed in the attic of a Jamaican store on South Street.

It was a pretty laid back internship; I would receive emails from Chris, the head of the photo department at the time, and would sign up to shoot whatever I was available to and hop on the R5 from Lansdale. It certainly brought me out to more than one event I never would have imagined myself going to- one reason I love being a photo journalist.

Hundreds of people attended the culturally enriching festival and enjoyed ethnic foods, goods, and music from countries such as Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, the Caribbean and Brazil. Two stages were set up which featured traditional and modern African dances and music.

21st Annual Manayunk Arts Festival
The 21st annual Manayunk Arts Festival took place this weekend along Main Street. Artists from across the country, as many as 300,000 set up tents while buyers and browsers came to check it out. The Manayunk Arts Festival is the largest in the tri-state area. Many browsers found themselves visiting the chic boutiques and restaurants the city had to offer as a relief from the hot sun.
